Property FAQ
Questions, answered plainly
Fixstead is a fixer-upper marketplace, not a general property portal, so a few things work differently here. If yours isn’t below, email info@fixstead.co.za.
Getting to know Fixstead
Fixstead is an online marketplace built only for fixer-upper properties in South Africa, not a general listings site. Every property here genuinely needs work, and every listing is checked before it goes live, so you're browsing real renovation opportunities rather than the odd fixer-upper mixed in among move-in-ready homes.
No. Fixstead is a listing platform only. We're not a party to any sale, we don't represent either side, and we don't earn commission. The deal itself happens directly between buyer and seller.
Finding a property
Every listing is tagged with the specific defects it has: roof, damp, electrical, structural, and more. Tick the defects you're interested in, and Fixstead shows every listing that has any of them, so you can quickly find properties that match the kind of project you're after.
It gives you a working estimate covering purchase price, renovation budget, transfer duty, conveyancing fees, and bond registration fees. Treat it as a planning tool, not a quote. Renovation costs in particular vary widely with finishes and hidden defects, so confirm real numbers with a bond originator, conveyancer or builder before you commit to anything.
Listing a property
A flat R299 per listing, charged when you submit. No commission, no monthly fee.
Our team checks every listing to confirm it's a genuine fixer-upper before it goes live. This isn't a structural survey, just confirmation that the property fits what Fixstead is for.
No. Fixstead is fixer-uppers only. New developments aren't accepted, regardless of price or condition.
If we decide it isn't a genuine fixer-upper, we won't publish it, and you'll get a full refund of your R299. If it's declined for another reason, such as unclear photos or missing detail, we'll tell you why so you can fix it and resubmit.
No. Once a listing is verified and published, the R299 is non-refundable, including if you later sell privately, take the property off the market, or don't get offers.
Payments & trust
